Oh, you expected to see Pokémon Special here didn't you! Well, you might see that here someday but for now I'm going to focus my attention on  Yumi Tsukirino's beautiful Shojo manga: Magical Pokémon Journey ( Pocket Monsters PiPiPi Adventures in Japan. No, not those kind of pipi adventures) .  It ran from  July 1997 - February 2003 and was serialized by Shogakukan in the Japanese shojo magazing CIAO. Maybe I just like cutesy, girly aesthetics (I mean, I definitely do) but this manga caught my eye even before Pokemon Special did. I don't want to ruin it for you but there's a girl named Maron (Hazel in the US translation) who likes this boy named Almond (10/10 name tbh) and this big brain scientist named Grandpa promises he'll whip her up a love potion if she catches Pokémon for him... I know, brilliant. It's barely about Pokemon but I love it. I have a few chapters up on the site currently and plan on adding more over time.
